The University of Denver Learning Communities and Civic Engagement Department is pleased to announce a .53 FTE Program Coordinator position for the Wellness Living and Learning Community. This position serves to provide administrative support, program development, coordination and curriculum support to the undergraduate Living and Learning Community (LLC) programs in general and specifically to the Wellness LLC. The position reports to the Executive Director of LCCE and will work closely in a matrixed relationship with the Assistant Director for the Living and Learning Communities and the Wellness LLC Faculty Director. - 20 hours per week, non-exempt; Eligibility for benefits, including tuition
- Availability to work some nights and weekends; Must be able to have presence in office at least 3 and preferably 4 partial days a week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - 40 percent co-curricular program management: Collaboratively develop, plan, coordinate, advise and implement special events, orientation, retreats and speakers, and student development opportunities for the Wellness LLC; develop, advise and supervise student leadership committees and Resident Advisors for co-curricular programming; coordinate and deepen the civic engagement focus of assigned LLC.
- 25 percent office management: Develop and maintain assigned LLC budgets using the Banner system; develop and maintain communication processes with students, faculty, parents, alumni and other friends of the programs; maintain and update website and collateral communication pieces; provide administrative assistance to directors, faculty and adjunct professors; communicate with university and outside vendors and organizations as necessary for programming.
- 15 percent coordinate marketing, recruitment, selection and student retention of assigned LLC programs.
- 10 percent team contribution: This position requires interaction with a number of departments and committees throughout the University. It will include: collaboration with co-workers to accomplish overall vision and goals of the LCCE department, including LLC co-programming and civic engagement initiatives; coordinate with relevant academic departments related to the LLC theme; collaborate with non-academic departments and committees such as HRE, Student Life and Student Advising.
- 5 percent train and supervise one to four student employees per quarter.
- 5 percent other duties as assigned

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in a related field (PhD and/or Master's Degree in Public Health, Public Health Administration or Public Administration is preferred)
- 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the public health field, including 2 years in a management role; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of public health core functions and 10 essential services: management theories, principles, practices and procedures, strategic planning processes, population-based strategies, technology, principles and practices, use of biostatistics in program planning, local, state and federal statutes pertaining to public health and public health funding resources

The Healthy Aging Program Coordinator will: - coordinate a team of site professional staff to provide nutrition, transportation and other services in an assigned geographic area to promote and maintain independent and healthy lifestyles for the older adult population

Strong communication skills, knowledge of Healthy Aging and Older Adult Wellness issues are desired, ability to build a Healthy Aging Council and infrastructure within Eagle County and ability to research, implement and evaluate program. Requirements - Four year degree from an accredited college or technical school in Gerontology, Social Services, Recreation Therapy, Health Services or a related field is preferred

Our focus is to provide high quality, continuously improving medical care, health education, and preventive services from birth to death to low income and other medically underserved people. This position would serve 2 of our 4 clinics in Boulder & Adams Counties.There is some flexibility around location, depending on applicant qualifications and clinic needs Duties: - Provides diabetes self-management education for patients and families including information on blood sugar control, glucometer use and maintenance, insulin and medication use and storage, diabetes self-care and self-management goal setting.
- Provides diabetes education for patients with diabetes during pregnancy or with gestational diabetes. Orders diabetes medical supplies as needed for patients with and without insurance.
- Provides nutrition counseling to patients during pregnancy, or patients with a nutrition-related condition.
- Provides expertise and nutrition counseling to clients in the Prenatal Plus program.
- Works with ECS staff to counsel patients on nutrition or weight gain issues and provide expertise and advice to staff as needed.
- Plans, develops and implements nutrition or diabetes-related training for nurses and the Prenatal Plus staff (social workers and case managers).
- Plans, develops and implements diabetes or other nutrition education activities or classes for adult patients and families.
- Develops and reviews diabetes and nutrition education materials for patients, families and staff.
- Assists in the development of the overall health education plan.
- Administers health education activities in related grants.
- Provides expertise in the area of program planning and evaluation to the ECS department, clinic committees, Health Outcomes Committee and the Total Quality Management Committee.
- Acts as a liaison to community resources and agencies in relation to diabetes or health education resources and activities.
- Assists with the implementation and ongoing training of an effective Quality Improvement Program.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the principals of growth and development over the life span.
- Participates in all chronic care group visits.
- Completes and passes an annual competency assessment.
Qualifications:
Education / Experience - Master’s Degree in Health Education, Nursing, Nutrition or related field or a Bachelor’s Degree and four years experience
- Program planning and implementation skills required
- Must have experience in program evaluation methods, chronic disease issues and health education and promotion
- Must be a registered dietitian to work with Prenatal Plus program
- Must be a Certified Diabetes Educator or willing to work toward certification
- Good organizational skills

Organization Description
LiveWell Wheat Ridge (LWWR) is a community initiative housed in the Health Promotion and Lifestyle Management division of Jefferson County Public Health. Funded by LiveWell Colorado, LWWR program staff partner with the Wheat Ridge community through a sophisticated coalition infrastructure to implement policies, planning processes and changes to the physical environment to increase access to fresh fruit and vegetables and increase physical activity to reduce and prevent obesity. Examples of recent community and program successes include the adoption of a community bike pedestrian master plan, the adoption of a community mixed-use ordinance, and the completion of a community healthy food assessment. Responsibilities
LiveWell Wheat Ridge is requesting a graduate level intern for the following activities: - Research emerging best and promising practices related to healthy eating and active living programming and policy implementation. For example, how should a community coalition implement community or school gardens, Safe Routes to School programs and policies or increase the number of bike or pedestrian facilities with high fidelity in a culturally proficient manner for maximum impact.
- Support the compilation and dissemination of a community healthy food assessment survey to constituents, elected officials, etc.
- Develop and administer qualitative and quantitative program evaluation tools to measure short-term and intermediate impacts of healthy eating and active living policy campaigns and adoption. This will require conducting a search of existing relevant and tested tools used by healthy eating and active living partners in Colorado and across the country.
- Research tested models and tools and funding sources for the successful implementation of a community health impact assessment (HIA.)
- Develop and administer qualitative and quantitative evaluation tools to measure impact and satisfaction of coalition members.
- Develop or fine-tune program logic model(s).
- Analyze data and statistics related to health eating and active living.
- Participate in coalition meetings when appropriate.
- Communicate strategic goals, objectives, plans, and outcomes to the coalition, community members, elected officials, etc.
Additional information - Desired Candidate: Graduate student in public health, behavioral health, preventive medicine, social psychology, sociology, anthropology, environmental health or related fields
